Dataset Overview

Study purpose: To determine whether micro-stimulation could recruit afferent fibers selectively, as measured by the presence of antidromic compound action potentials in specific nerves.

Data collection: This dataset contains recordings of compound nerve action potentials from the pelvic nerve, pudendal nerve and its various branches in response to electrical stimulation on the epidural surface of the sacral spinal cord in anesthetized cats.

Curator's Notes

Experimental Design: Animals were anesthetized and nerve cuffed on the sensory branch, deep perineal branch and caudal rectal branch nerves. Each animal was then given a laminectomy and had an epidural spinal cord array secured to the spinal cord. Subjects were stimulated with 50 varying electrical pulses, and nerve responses were recorded.

Subjects/Samples: This dataset contains experimental data from 13 male cats ranging in age between ~9 months and ~9 years old. All subjects are designated as being in the "control" group.

Primary vs derivative:: In the primary folder, data is split by subject and then run. Results are in JSON files alongside a derived CSV version.

Code Availability: JSON can be opened in most text editors. Opening the JSON files with Mozilla Firefox displays a more easily read version of the file.
